On Thursday, September 19, at Cívitas Metropolitano office, Atlético Madrid’s CEO, Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, along with Nurtleuov Shalkar, CEO of Doscar Group, and Okhonov Farrukh, CEO of Sport Asset Management, formally signed an agreement to create a strategic alliance—a partnership between Atlético Madrid and Kazakhstan for the establishment of the Academy. The signing ceremony was also attended by Danat Mussayev, Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Spain.

This is a ten-year project, with its foundation laid last June, when an Atlético Madrid delegation, led by President Enrique Cerezo, held several meetings with Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan, and Barmenkulov Adlet Nazarbayevich, President of the Kazakhstan Football Federation, in Astana, the capital of the Central Asian nation. During these institutional meetings, all parties expressed their strong commitment to the development of this initiative, which holds great importance for both the country and the entire Central Asian region.

As part of this strategic partnership, Kazakhstan will launch the Academy, with its main goal being the construction of a new high-performance sports center, set to become a key football hub in the country. The facility will be built near Almaty, with construction set to begin following the formalization of the agreement and completion expected by December 2025. Earlier this summer, architects working for our club visited the area to assess the site and prepare for collaboration with local engineers responsible for the development of this major sports complex.

With this initiative, Atlético Madrid continues to expand its Academy-driven global development plan and will contribute to the growth of football in Kazakhstan through the expertise of its coaches and officials. The project has the full support of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who is one of its main advocates, as well as Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Spain, Danat Mussayev.
